Piazza Unità d’Italia, the largest seafront square in Europe, welcomes you as you enter Trieste. Just a few steps away is the Molo Audace, a walkway extending over 200 meters out over the sea, a magical place for watching enchanting sunsets. The majestic Miramare Castle overlooking the sea and surrounded by luxuriant gardens, is located about 6 km from the old city centre. The Miramare Marine Nature Reserve in the Gulf of Trieste extends around the promontory on which Miramare Castle is built. It was the first marine park in Italy to be managed by the WWF, who run the immersive museum dedicated entirely to marine diversity.
